TOTAL GALLERY COMPETES FOR THE PALACE HOUSE STAKES TOMORROW 3.40pm 01.05.2010

Trainer Stan Moore is looking forward to getting his star sprinter Total Gallery back on the racecourse in the £65,000 Group Three StanJames.com Palace House Stakes (3.40pm) at Newmarket on Saturday, 1st May.

The four-year-old landed a six-furlong heritage handicap on Newmarket’s July Course last summer before progressing to win the Group One Prix de l’Abbaye at Longchamp in October over the StanJames.com Palace House Stakes distance of five furlongs.

Total Gallery heads to the StanJames.com Guineas Festival having enjoyed a winter break since his latest outing when three-lengths sixth to Hong Kong’s crack speedster Sacred Kingdom in the Group One Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Sprint in December.

The Namid colt is set to shoulder an 8lb penalty on the Rowley Mile as a result of his Longchamp success.

Moore revealed this morning: “Total Gallery is in very good form. He has had one piece of work away from home and he is in as good form as you could expect for his first run.

“His main aim is the King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot so he will improve for the run on Saturday but having said that, he is certainly in good enough order to do himself justice and I think he will take a bit of beating.

“He will be entered in the Temple Stakes at Haydock next month and there is every chance that he will go there after Newmarket but if it came up heavy there like it did last year then I wouldn’t run him. He goes on most ground but he didn’t handle heavy last year.

“He came back from Hong Kong without any problems and we made the King’s Stand Stakes his prime target for the first part of the year, so we decided to miss Dubai and start him off in the StanJames.com Palace House Stakes.”

The fantastic 15-strong entry includes two other Group One winners in dual Nunthorpe Stakes victor Borderlescott and 2008 King’s Stand Stakes hero Equiano, who returned to form over six furlongs of the Rowley Mile when winning the Listed Connaught Access Flooring Abernant Stakes on 15th April.

Last year’s winner Amour Propre is also among the entries, as are the 2007 victor Tax Free, the progressive Blue Jack and Irish raider Sole Power from the Edward Lynam yard, who is one of two three-year-olds entered.
